“Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
― Christopher Robin to Pooh, A.A. Milne
I’ve never been a practical dresser. Temperatures are expected to reach 30°C here in Vancouver over the next few days, yet this AllSaints hoodie is easily my favourite thing in my closet right now. In truth, I’m the first to wear cutoffs come spring and the last to give into a warm wool coat come winter (or pants, for that matter). When it comes to personal style, I wear what I want, when I want. In a world where we often lose ourselves in the crowd, I believe it’s important to hold onto our individuality.
In other news, tomorrow will mark one month since I started my new job. I must admit that the short journey to get here hasn’t been easy. The thought of stepping out of my comfort zone and into a new, unfamiliar, and unacquainted place is incredibly frightening, and I always had an excuse to stay stagnant in my complacency. It seems like no matter how many times we think it over, regardless of how exciting a certain change might be and how beneficial or how much joy that change might bring into our lives, we still find ourselves skeptical.
That said, I’m very lucky to be surrounded by motivated people who aren’t afraid to take their happiness into their own hands and create a difference in their own lives. These people are pursuing their dreams and in turn, empowering other people to do so, too. Terrence J once said that when following your dreams, you’ll be temporarily inconvenienced, but only you can determine the amount of sacrifice your dreams are worth. Today, these words resonate with me more than ever.
I’m excited to see what each new day will bring as I re-prioritize my life. We only have one life and I’d rather take risks than live with regret. Step one is to jump, and I’m not afraid of heights.
